Did you know you can get married on the steps of the WV state capitol building in Charleston and it doesn’t cost a dime? That’s right, all of that lovely architecture just sitting there ready to serve as the stage for you to pledge eternal love to your partner. Shelby and Oral recognize the radness of this spot, so they brought us along to photograph their WV state capitol elopement.
The weather was questionable on this particular day, with the lingering threat of rain and gusts of wind threatening to topple Shelby and Oral’s ceremony trellis. Luckily for the couple and the smattering of friends and family in attendance, mother nature was merciful on this day. After the ceremony the festivities shifted to Shelby’s home on the west side. Oral is Jamaican, and his friends whipped up some amazing food that included oxtail and jerk chicken. As the sun fell, toasts were given, many laughs were shared and happy tears were shed.
